DRG III E-Book Now Available

David R. George III’s novelette “The Instruments of Vice” first appeared in the anthology ReDeus: Native Lands. It is now available as a single e-book for just $0.99. Give it a read.

Here is the description: Twenty years after the pantheons of gods returned to Earth at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, life has changed in different ways all over the planet. In South Dakota, a citizen finds the mutilated body of a man whose livelihood was taken away two decades earlier by the Lakota spider-god, Iktomi. Police want to find out who killed the man, but the motive behind the killing turns out to be more important.

On Enterprising Individuals

The Enterprising Individuals podcast recently sat down with David R. George III to talk about an early episode of the original Star Trek“The Corbomite Maneuver.” In their discussion of the first non-pilot ST episode ever produced, they speak about how Trek became Trek, the inclusiveness of the future it envisions, what it takes to command a Federation starship, the exploration of the unknown, and the series’ humanistic principles set against its occasionally militaristic science-fiction landscape.

DRG III also discusses the process of developing a Star Trek script, while wondering about the alleged appearance in the episode of The Most Interesting Man in the World. So transport over to the Enterprising Individuals website and give it a listen.

David R. George III has been away on something of an adventure the past few months, and so he hasn’t had an opportunity to contribute to his website. During his time away, he still kept up with his Star Trek writing, working through the first-, second-, and final-pass pages for his upcoming novel, Original Sin, which will be published on 26 September 2017. David is back now from his travels and returning his attention to DRGIII.com. He intends to begin posting here regularly again. Watch this space!

Cover of Upcoming DRG III Novel Released

The cover of David R. George III’s newest novel has been released by Pocket Books. Original Sin tells the first story of Captain Benjamin Sisko and his U.S.S. Robinson crew as they begin their long-term exploratory mission of the Gamma Quadrant. The novel will be an October publication, meaning that it will be available in bookstores beginning 26 September 2017. You can pre-order Original Sin on Amazon.com.

Here is the back-cover copy: At the end of 2385, in a significant shift of its goals from military back to exploratory, Starfleet sent Captain Benjamin Sisko and the crew of the U.S.S. Robinson on an extended mission into the Gamma Quadrant. Tasked with a years-long assignment to travel unknown regions, they set out to fulfill the heart of Starfleet’s charter: to explore strange new worlds, and to seek out new life and new civilizations.

But now three months into the mission, their first contact with an alien species comes in the form of an unprovoked attack on Robinson. With the ship’s crew suddenly incapacitated, seventy-eight of the 1,300 aboard are abducted—including Sisko’s daughter, Rebecca. But Rebecca had already been kidnapped years earlier by a Bajoran religious zealot, part of a sect believing that her birth fulfilled the prophecy of the arrival of the Infant Avatar. Does her disappearance now have anything to do with the harrowing events of the past? And for what purposes have these enemies taken Sisko’s daughter and the rest of the missing?
